Kylie McLeod

I started working in marketing within the education sector when I moved to London in 2005 and have loved it ever since. I spent some time both client side and agency side during my time overseas and still keep in contact with contacts from my creative agency to this day. I have always wanted to do something worthwhile and ‘make a difference’ and working in education you can see the difference that education makes in people’s lives. I am now directly giving back to society because every dollar we raise goes towards services and facilities for our veterans. I can’t say that I planned my professional trajectory but I am loving that I get to play in both the creative and data analysis space and that I can make a direct difference in people’s lives.

I graduated in International Business/Marketing and actually worked in beef export as my first job after university. I took the first job offered to me- no girl dreams of working abbatoir-adjacent! I snagged a marketing role at a College in London in 2005 and got to work closely with our creative media agency who employed me in my second year in London. I worked part of the week as account manager for Thames Valley University account and the rest of the week I was contracted out at that University as Events Manager!

Since my return to Brisvegas I have worked at 3 of the top education institutions in Queensland in marketing communications and international student recruitment before landing my current role at RSL Queensland managing acquisition marketing campaigns for their art union. This is really the best job as I get to use my analytical brain to develop campaign strategy and then switch to creative when we are executing. I am grateful that I can use my skills to make a difference in people’s lives.
