Co-founder and Creative Director at Gangplank

As someone with an insatiable curiosity, I feel lucky to have had a very multidisciplinary design career and to have worked with agencies and clients of every size. Over the years, I’ve worked across magazine and book publishing, large-scale digital design, as well as integrated campaigns, but my specialty is in brand strategy and identity systems.

Career & Background

What inspired you to do what you are doing now?

What was your journey and where are you headed in your career right now?

Your favourite food for thought

Books that have been helpful for setting up and running a design studio: The Business of Design (Greg Branson & Carol Mackay), Run Studio Run (Eli Altman) and Built To Sell (John Warrillow).

Podcasts / Thought Leaders

Some of my favourite brains are Tea Uglow (Creative Director at Google Creative Lab), Yuval Noah Harari (Historian & Philosopher), and Frankie Ratford (Founder of The Design Kids).

What drives and inspires you

What are your core values?

  • Courage
  • Fun
  • Perseverance

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

For me, Roanne Adams is like the Beyoncé of the design world. As the founder of RoAndCo agency and Romance Journal, her work is intelligent, visceral, and crafted to perfection. She’s a powerful leader who doesn’t hide her principles, her femininity, nor her family life.

You as a Mentor

Why have you decided to become a mentor?

The ripple effect! If I can help just one woman realise that she has more value, more potential or more options than she realised, who knows what ripple effect that might have in her life and in the world.

What are the top 5 skills or qualities you bring to mentoring?

  • Asking powerful questions
  • Collaborative
  • Connected
  • Direct
  • Willing to be vulnerable
