Bel’s embraced a deep passion for people and technology with a commitment to mastering the intricacies of marketing to deliver impactful growth and customer delight. Her journey is a deliberate pursuit of understanding what makes human journeys worthwhile as well as how technology will illuminate our future. As a Lead Mentor at She Codes Australia and Entrepreneur In Residence at Plus Eight, Bel champions diversity, guiding women in software development, entrepreneurship and now a topic she could talk about non-stop - marketing.
Career & Background
What inspired you to do what you are doing now?
After meeting Amber and some of the Assistahood team at the WID awards gala I was inspired to step forward and become an assisterhood mentor. In stepping forward I am deeply inspired by the transformative impact mentorship has had on my own career. Having been guided and supported by mentors who offered invaluable insights and encouragement, I’m driven by a profound belief in paying it forward.
Experiencing the barriers I’ve encountered as a woman in male-dominated industries, I’m inspired to encourage continued conversations on diversity and inclusion through mentorship. My innate curiosity and passion for learning also motivate me to engage with aspiring marketers, as I believe mentorship is a two-way street—I learn as much as I teach. Ultimately, my decision to mentor stems from a desire to inspire and empower the next generation of marketers, guiding them towards their own version of success in our dynamic
field.
What was your journey and where are you headed in your career right now?
Throughout my professional journey, I’ve held management roles in Sales and Marketing since 2012. Leading strategy and teams within the marketing sphere, I’m now shifting my focus towards the realm of digital transformation. My passion lies in exploring the intersection of AI and marketing, particularly in harnessing Generative AI applications to enhance our industry practices. Currently, I’m transitioning into leading teams of marketers to embrace Gen AI and integrate cutting-edge martech solutions into our digital future.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?
When asked about my biggest inspiration, I often find it challenging to pinpoint just one individual. Every person I encounter leaves a unique imprint on my life, offering valuable lessons and perspectives that contribute to my growth and development. It’s akin to a kaleidoscope of inspiration, where each interaction adds a different color and dimension to my worldview. From mentors who have guided me along my journey to colleagues who have shared their expertise, and even strangers whose stories have touched my heart, I draw inspiration from a diverse array of people. Each interaction serves as a reminder of the richness and complexity of the human experience, motivating me to continually learn, grow, and strive for excellence in all aspects of my life.

Why have you decided to become a mentor?
I’ve chosen to become a mentor because I believe in the power of lifting each other up in shaping the trajectory of everyone’s career.
As a mentor, I want to empower and elevate others by sharing my experiences, knowledge, and insights. In the hope this will in some way help them navigate challenges, unlock their potential, and achieve their goals. Mentoring allows me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others, fostering a sense of fulfillment whilst also being able to grow my network and share learnings to contribute to the growth of our industry overall.
