Career & Background

What inspired you to do what you are doing now?

So hard to answer this question, because, for me, so many experiences and people have inspired me along the way. More recently, I heard the amazing Sam Mostyn speak at an IWD lunch, and she is right up there.

What was your journey and where are you headed in your career right now?

My background has been in digital media on the agency side. I spent most of my career (15+ years) at Dentsu in Melbourne, and overseas in San Francisco. I’ve spent the last 10+ years in senior digital/Head of digital roles.

My ambition has always been to end up in executive leadership, but to juggle a young family and the demands of an exec role it had to be for the right company. and the conditions had to work for me. As I have moved up in my career, I’ve also become much clearer on what I need to have a purposeful career and thrive, and the confidence to ask for it.

I started at Hatched 4.5 years ago as Head of digital and moved into the GM role a year ago. So I think in terms of where I am headed, at this stage in my career, my focus is really on the impact I can have on the people I lead, and creating an agency culture that supports women and their career ambitions.

You as a Mentor

Why have you decided to become a mentor?

Whilst I don’t think I have had an official mentor in my career, I have had sponsors and people who have helped me immensely along the way. I think I may have avoided a few bumpy career moments had I had a mentor or someone to guide me from the side. So now knowing what I know, if I can support or pay it forward in any way.
