Career & Background
What inspired you to do what you are doing now?
My business partner and I decided to go out on our own after working at Brisbane Marketing (now BEDA together). I felt like I had nothing to lose – and I guess I was right!
Could you tell us a bit about your professional background and where you are headed in your career right now?
I’ve worked in a range of roles across agency, brand-side and even media. I started in marketing nearly 20 years ago when I took a work experience position for 2 weeks and got offered a school-based traineeship as a marketing assistant. I was 15. I dropped out of school and ended up working in radio and then as a media buying agency before I decided to do a bridging program to get into uni at 18. I worked part time as a marketing assistant brand side, left to study abroad, and then moved to Brisbane when I landed a role in state government. I did that for a while, moved to a role at BEDA, and then launched my own agency at age 24 with my boss at the time. A lot of what I know now, I’ve learned during this job. I’ve learned to run a business and I’ve learned a lot about so many different industries. We’ve grown the business to 15 team members and more than $2m revenue.
